I have decided to buy a domain name and get webhosting at GoDaddy! I am changing the NAME of this blog to The Pagan Mom Blog and the domain will be www.thepaganmomblog.com . I will be working on it this week and importing my old blog entries in to the new hosting site. I will Tweet, Facebook, and Myspace when the new domain will work. Once that happens PLEASE be sure that you update your blogroll with new blog title and link.

Hope this doesn’t confuse anyone, I just really wanted to move the blog to it’s own domain.

Reflecting on the Conference

•September 27, 2009 • Comments Off on Reflecting on the Conference

We cleaned everything up this morning and moved more boxes (AGAIN) to the office. I will be quite happy to never move a box again……or at least for another week lol. Despite all of tiring work, long days, sweat, achy muscles, and stress, I think it’s fair to claim the conference as a success. There were times where we questioned it or felt like our efforts were failing miserably. But looking back on it all, the happy sea of faces, and the laughter we shared, it was well worth it. We learned lessons and met our twitter/blogger sisters. The children woke up excited for another day of KidCon. All in all, it was wonderful!

P.S. I promise to write more later about it! I am just so tired I need time for the brain to be able to coherently make sentences 🙂

What is your goal for your blog?

•September 25, 2009 • 2 Comments

Having attended a few sessions today at Typeamom Conference has been great. It has really reaffirmed for me on why I blog and what direction that I want to go in.

So my goal…..is to keep spewing out whatever random thoughts pop into my head. I have decided to stop checking stats. I am not going to compare myself to women who have a huge following. I am not them, I am simply me.  I don’t want to change my blogging style. I just don’t feel an urge to change anything. Actually, I take that back. I do want my own domain name. But to do that, I will need to change the name of the blog. I am hesitant to do that sort of change just because I don’t want to confuse the few blog sisters I have. But at some point I will and when it’s time I will do it. It’s the only real change I desire.

So, my question to anyone who is reading this…..What is your goal for your blog? Or Why do you blog? When you figure that out, focus on it. Stats don’t make someone a successful blogger. YOU being happy with your blog is what makes you successful.

TypeAMomCon

•September 23, 2009 • 2 Comments

So tomorrow I am embarking on my first blogger convention, TypeAMomCon. I am also working the con, I volunteered to help since Kelby is a friend.

So I am nervous. I am a small time blog, I don’t blog for money, have no intention of blogging for money, I don’t blog to network….I simply blog because it’s my personal outlet. I don’t know but a couple people going. So yea, nervous.

Tomorrow is a blog tour of the Biltmore Estate, one of my favorite places to go. You would think a local wouldn’t care, but the place is gorgeous lol. We are also going to the NC Arboretum…YAY! Going to try to take some pics and vids so those of you @ home get to see what I saw.

I won’t be online probably until Sunday. I am sure that Kelby is going to wear my ass out lol. We kick off the “torture” this afternoon by getting swag bags ready. So I hope you all have a lovely weekend, hope the rain bypasses you, and I will talk to you all again soon!

Dance Your Witch Off

•September 21, 2009 • Comments Off on Dance Your Witch Off

So one of the lovely ladies on Youtube did a video of her dancing around in front of her webcam. She then encouraged the rest of the pagan community to make video responses. So me, my fat ass, and my girls did it. As bad as it looks, we had a great time. So I challenge you all to take about 5 minutes today and dance your ass off with your kids (or without if you don’t have any….or borrow the neighbors, lol).

Religious Bigotry Alive & Well

•September 18, 2009 • 7 Comments

Earlier this week I was going through my swag bag from Scarefest and decided to read this mag I got called Oracle 20/20. It was an interesting read….that is until I got to page 25. It had an article of an email the editor received. The article was a portion of a divorce decree finalized in July 2009. Here is a portion of that divorce decree:

In the Superior Court for the County of Henry
State of Georgia
Mark David Metz, Plaintiff
Lori Ann Metz, Defendant
Civil Action File Number 08CV3843A
Filed July 23, 2009
Judge Brian J. Amero

Page 5 States:
6. Plaintiff is awarded primary physical custody of the minor child, K********. Said child is not to be exposed to the Wiccan religion or the Nerissa Delacroix household and cannot live in a place where the Wiccan religion is practiced. Said child shall be encouraged to spend time with his brother and his mother.

7. Defendant is awarded primary physical custody of the minor child, J******. Said child is not to be exposed to the Wiccan religion or the Nerissa Delacroix household and cannot live in a place where the Wiccan religion is practiced.

8. Plaintiff shall have default decision making authority for non-emergency medical, education and extracurricular activities of the minor child J*********** so long as there is no overlap of Wiccan activities or the Wiccan religion. Defendant shall have default decision making authority for religion for the minor child J*******

Uhm…am I still in the USA? Was this country not founded on FREEDOM OF RELIGION???

Now you know that if this was a slam to Christianity this would be all over the news. So did the rules suddenly change to Freedom of Religion if you beleive in one certain religion? And Wicca is federally recognized as a religion in US. So how can a judge actually make such a ruling in this case? Now I can understand if DSS went into a home and found that the religion was being detrimental to a child’s health (ie emotional/physical/sexual abuse). But as far as my studies on this case have gone, DSS has yet to step foot in someone’s door to determine whether or not there is any such abuse. No, instead the biases of a judge and beleif in outright lies about the religion are being used to make such a ruling!

I am asking my brothers and sisters and any other person who supports Freedom of (and from) Religion to contact the Governor of Georgia and protest this kind of discrimination! If things happen like this repeatedly who knows what our country will be like in the future. It’s not true freedom when the government steps in under false pretenses.

Prepping for Mabon

•September 17, 2009 • Comments Off on Prepping for Mabon

So it looks like the jewelry show is off for this weekend. Everyone has plans. BOO! But…it’s got an upside. Saturday is Mabon Celebration with Mother Grove and the girls really want to go. Sometime on Saturday I am going to go grocery shopping. I have decided our feast for Mabon will be *drum roll*:

Turkey Pot Pie (Carrots and corn in it…homemade of course!)
Roasted Veggies (Broccoli, squash, zuchini)
Spinach & Mixed Green Salad
Apple Bread
Grape & Cranberry Salad

I might see about some crafts for the kids to do this weekend so we can decorate the house a bit more for Mabon and less for Samhain. Or at least the dinner table and altars lol.

Also…I have some left over Halloween fabric and black fleece so I am gonna work on some tote bags this weekend.

For those that celebrate Mabon, doing anything special?
